If you have disproportionately large breasts that are causing your neck pain, back pain and other such physical symptoms then you can go for breast reduction. Also known as reduction mammaplasty, breast reduction surgery removes the excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a proportionate size for breast according to the shape of the person’s body. This also alleviates the discomforts associated with overly large breasts. Breast Reduction surgery is not only for women but men who have conditions such as Gynecomastia can also undergo breast reduction surgeries.
Breast Reduction is a surgical procedure to reduce the breast volume to achieve smaller aesthetically shaped breast mound along with a relief to various physical ailments. The primary aim of breast reduction surgery is to reposition, reduce, reshape the breasts thus reducing and raising the breast tissue along with the repositioning the nipple or areola. There is no particular age to carry out breast reduction surgeries as one can undergo this surgery at any age after breast development. The placement of scars is carried out in consensus with the patient desires and final shape desired We prefer a short scar procedure to lift the breast , reduce its size and reduce the size of nipple and areola.
There would be supportive dressing on the breast and the patients are allowed to walk in the evening of surgery. There is no pain as such in the breasts but one could feel the tightness in the chest. Light work and joining back to office is possible within 2 weeks of surgery but heavy physical exertion is to be avoided for at least 6 weeks.
