In the next step, treatment areas are cleansed with an antibacterial agent and anesthetic ointment is applied to numb the skin. For some fillers, local anesthetic may be given. In the third step, the filler is injected under the skin using a needle. It may take about 15 minutes and some fillers are given in repeat sessions. In the final step, the markings are cleaned once the treatment shows satisfactory results. Ice pack may be given to ease the pain or swelling in the treated area.
